Maintenance Plan vs. Maintenance Reminder: What's the Difference?

We've been rolling out something new for our customers, and since a couple of people have asked what the difference is between our maintenance reminder and our maintenance plan, it seemed worth writing out properly.
The short version is that one of them is free and always will be, and the other one is for folks who want us to handle more of their heating and air conditioning needs. Choosing which one is right for you really just comes down to how you like to run your home.
The Maintenance Reminder (Free, No Strings)
Regular maintenance is the single best thing you can do for the lifespan of your heating and cooling equipment, but we also know not everyone is in a position to invest in a full plan. And honestly, some folks just prefer to book service when they need it. That's perfectly fine with us.
So here's what we do either way: when it's been a year, or half a year depending on your system, since your last visit, we'll reach out through whatever contact method you prefer and remind you it's time for maintenance.
You book at our standard rates, no commitment, no card on file, nothing to cancel. We'd rather you keep up on maintenance without a membership than skip it because you didn't want one.
The Maintenance Plans (For People Who Want It Handled)
The plans are for folks who'd rather not think about any of this. You become a club member, and we take care of everything from there.
Plan #1 runs $19.99 a month, which works out to about 67 cents a day.
This gets you a complimentary maintenance visit and a meticulous examination of your system once a year, recommended for gas furnaces, along with guaranteed appointment times in dedicated time slots and discounted service fees and repairs.
Plan #2 is $29.99 a month, about 99 cents a day, and it's built for equipment that benefits from being looked at twice a year, which is typically what we recommend for heat pumps.
Same idea, two visits, plus custom arrival windows so you're not burning a whole afternoon waiting on us.
Both plans come with the club member benefits. That means:
- Priority booking on emergency calls
- Complimentary filter change and thorough cleaning at every visit
- 10 percent off IAQ and repair parts
And last but not least, club membership includes discounted service calls: $89 during normal business hours and a flat $179 for after-hours emergencies. Anyone who's paid for a 2 a.m. no-heat call knows that last one matters.
The Part We're Most Proud Of
Here's the big one. Our lifetime installation warranty, which (as far as we know) nobody else around here offers anymore, is now a benefit reserved for our maintenance plan members. We made that change on purpose.
It makes sense to us to reward the people who are committed to taking care of their equipment with us, and frankly, a system that gets professionally maintained every year is a system we're comfortable standing behind for life.
Your warranty is only as good as the business behind it, and ours is only as good as the maintenance behind the equipment. Those two things go together.
Which One Should You Pick?
If you're diligent about booking your own service and you like paying as you go, stick with the free reminder. We'll keep nudging you and we'll be glad to see you every year.
If you'd rather lock in priority booking, save on the visits you were going to need anyway, and keep that lifetime warranty on your installation, the plan will pay for itself pretty quickly.
And if you're not sure which category your home falls into, call us at (425) 496-7300 and ask. We'll tell you straight, even if the answer is that the free reminder is all you need.
Our job isn't to sell. It's to provide peace of mind.
